M9A1 has a more aggressive checkering there.The M9A3 grip covers are also very thin from side to side. It's thin both ways basically. They're actually 100% compatible with the standard M9/92FS frame, but because there is no bulge at the bottom of the grip on the Vertec frame it won't contour perfectly.
